Marshall County Animal Control
Marshall County has one animal control officer for the entire county: Kevin Hooks. Mr. Hooks is not an APOSTC (Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission) certified officer. This means he has no arrest authority. (This is also the case with city animal control officers). He is tasked with picking up stray animals found running at large and with ensuring public safety by impounding animals for quarantine periods. He is also tasked with helping Sheriff's Office officials enforce state laws regarding animals. The county animal control officer has jurisdiction only in county areas and outside of city limits.
The county operates an animal shelter at 96 Abbott Road in Albertville (on the south side of Highway 431 east of Buchanan Road). It is staffed by Cherokee Copeland and Jamika Thomas. The shelter is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday, The shelter phone number is 256-960-1408. The email address is [email protected].
